The Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA) is a non-profit policy research organisation that conducts independent, high quality applied research on economic policy issues in Nigeria and the rest of Africa.

In many instances, development initiatives in Africa suffer from a lack of evidence-based research and analysis. As a result, they fail to consider the costs and benefits of alternative schemes. The goal of CSEA is to advance the development of Africa by providing policy makers with timely and relevant applied research that will inform and enrich their policy decisions.

CSEA is therefore committed to not only conducting high quality research but also communicating its research output to policy-makers in the language and formats that would best meet their needs. CSEA is strategically based in Abuja for proximity to government agencies located in the nation’s capital. From there it reaches out to stakeholders in the private sector, government, national assembly, and civil society to promote policy dialogue.
