Dr. Eberechukwu Uneze

Dr. Eberechukwu Uneze is the Executive Director of CSEA and Head of the Centre's Public Financial Management & Governance (PFMG) research area. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Kent, UK, a Master of Science degree in Economic Management and Policy from the University of Strathclyde, UK, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the Imo State University, Nigeria. Dr. Uneze also received post-graduate trainings from the Laval University, Quebec (Canada) and the Evaluators’ Institute, George Washington University (USA). Dr. Uneze’s research interest cuts across Public Economics and Policy Analysis, Development Economics, and Outcome and Impact Evaluation. He is widely recognized as one of the leading development thinkers in Nigeria and Africa. In 2013, he received a lifetime achievement award from the Global Development Network for his contributions to the advancement of research and capacity building in Africa.
Dr. Uneze has provided policy advice to domestic and international institutions including the World Bank, DfID, AfDB, and various Nigerian government agencies. He is a regular contributor to international policy seminars on Africa’s economic development and the growth of think-tanks, and has published peer-reviewed articles in the areas of public expenditure management, foreign aid, investment and growth in Africa. Dr. Uneze previously worked in the Nigerian banking sector in various roles, and as an Economics lecturer at the University of Kent.

Dr. Menachem Katz

Dr. Katz is the Associate Executive Director of the Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA). He recently retired from the International Monetary Fund where he headed IMF missions to several African countries, including Nigeria. He received his PhD in Economics from Columbia University, USA.

 

Dr. Olumide Taiwo

Dr. Olumide Taiwo is the Director of Research at CSEA and Head of the Centre's Education, Labour Market and Population Dynamics Program. He holds a PhD in Economics from Brown University in Rhode Island, USA, a pre-doctoral Certificate in Economics from Yale University, New Haven, USA, a Master of Science degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science (with First Class Honours) from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He was recipient of many competitive scholarships and fellowships ranging from Faculty best student awards to a Rockefeller Foundation international fellowship for intending African economists. Dr. Taiwo is an expert in Population and Development Policy, Labour Markets, Enterprise Development and Program Evaluation. He has worked extensively and published peer-reviewed articles in the area of economic and social development. Prior to his graduate education, Dr. Taiwo worked in actuarial consultancy and in the banking sector where he had experiences including insurance, financial institutions and money markets, credit risk management and microcredit lending. Dr Taiwo previously worked as an Africa research fellow at the Brookings Institution, United States. He had also been a visiting lecturer in the Demography and Population Studies Program at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa and an assistant professor of economics at the American University of Nigeria, Yola, Nigeria.

Dr. Vanessa Ushie

Dr. Vanessa Ushie is the Director of Institutional Advancement of CSEA, responsible for resource mobilisation and building partnerships with donors to support the development of the Centre. She is also Head of the Natural Resources, Energy and the Environment (NREE) research area. Dr. Ushie received a PhD in Economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, an MSc in International Trade from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, United Kingdom and a BSc in Economics from the University of Calabar, Nigeria. Herresearch interests cut across natural resource economics, political economy of oil, energy geopolitics, and the political economy of Nigerian and African development.Dr. Ushie was previously an economics tutor at SOAS and a researcher at the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, Lagos.

Mr. Philip Osafo-Kwaako

Mr. Osafo-Kwaako currently serves as Director of Programmes for CSEA. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees at MIT and the University of Oxford respectively. He was previously a Fellow of the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) in London, UK and also worked in the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry in Zambia. He is currently a visiting research associate at the Brookings Institution, Washington DC.
Dr. Chukwuka Onyekwena

Dr. Onyekwena is a Senior Research Fellow and head of the Global Economic Governance program at CSEA. He holds a Ph.D in Economics from University of Portsmouth, UK, a Master of Science degree in Economics from University of Kent, UK, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from University of Nigeria Nsukka. Dr. Onyekwena is a member of the advisory group of the Africa Global Economic Governance Project, a joint initiative of the International Development Law Unit at the University of Pretoria and the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA). His research interest is mainly in the areas of Financial Inclusion, Food security, Foreign Direct Investment, and Firm productivity. Dr. Onyekwena had worked previously as a part-time lecturer at Economics Department of University of Portsmouth.

Mr. Maxwell Ekor

Mr. Ekor is a Research Fellow at CSEA, and head of the Macroeconomic Management research area. He holds a masters’ degree in Economic and Financial Sector Policies from the University of Glasgow, UK and B.Sc. in Economics from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. His research interests include Macroeconomic management and Public financial management and Governance. Mr. Ekor has published in published peer-reviewed articles in these areas, and has participated in various workshops and conferences. Mr. Ekor had previously worked in the financial services sector.

Mr. Ibrahim Tajudeen

Mr. Tajudeen is a Research Associate at CSEA. He received his Masters' degree in Energy Economics and Policy from the University of Surrey, UK and Bachelors' degree in Economics from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. He is also an Associate Member of Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM) Chartered. Prior to his appointment at CSEA, he has worked as a Research Assistant in various capacities.

Mr. Idris Ademuyiwa

Mr. Ademuyiwa is a Research Associate at CSEA. He holds a Masters and a Bachelors degree both in Economics from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. His areas of research include International Trade and Regional Integration, Development Economics and Applied Econometrics. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and has contributed some chapters in books in these areas of research. Mr. Ademuyiwa previously worked as a Research Assistant with the Centre for Econometrics and Allied Research (CEAR), University of Ibadan.

Mr. Uzor Ezechukwu

Mr. Adedeji Adeniran

Mr. Adeniran is a Research Associate at CSEA. He holds a Master degree in Economics and Bachelors degree in Educational Management/Economics both from University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He also holds a National Diploma in Mathematics and Statistics from the Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun State. His areas of research include Public sector Economics, Development Policy, Poverty Measurement and Alleviation. Mr. Adeniran had previously worked as a teaching assistant at the Department of Economics, University of Ibadan.

Ms. Ewere Usi

Ms Usi is a Research Assistant at CSEA. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Benin, Nigeria. She is a certified project Manager with the International Project Management Professionals (IPMP) and also a graduate member of the Nigeria institute of Management (NIM) where she holds a proficiency certificate in Management. Ms Usi’s research areas include Public Financial Management and Governance, and Macroeconomic Management.

Ms. Chinonye Udechukwu

Ms Udechukwu is a Research Assistant at CSEA. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the Imo State University, Nigeria. She is a certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) with the Project Management Institute (PMI). Her research areas include Natural Resources, Energy and Environment and Education, and Labour Market and Population Dynamics. Miss Udechukwu had previously worked as a Tax Associate at Akintola Williams Deloitte, Lagos state, Nigeria as a Tax Associate.

Ms. Judith Ikeh

Ms Ikeh is a Research Assistant at CSEA. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Geography from the University of Nigeria Nsukka. Her areas of research include Natural Resources, Energy and Environment and Program Evaluation, Poverty Measurement and Analysis.

Mr. Bamidele Ogundipe

Mr. Ogundipe is the Finance and Accounts Officer at CSEA. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, Nigeria. He is an Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and Chartered Institute of Taxation, Nigeria. Prior to his appointment at CSEA; He worked with Onyema Osueke & Co. (Chartered Accountants) in Lagos, Nigeria.

 

Ms. Drusilla David

Ms David is a Programs/Communications Officer at CSEA. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She has experience in the reportage of various issues in Nigeria including, Agribusiness and the Transport sector with several articles written and published. Ms David had previously worked with Blueprint Newspapers Abuja, as a Reporter/Correspondent.
