2010 Global Development Awards and Medals Competition

 

The Global Development Network (GDN) invites researchers and organizations from developing and transition countries to submit research proposals, completed research papers and proposals for scaling-up development projects.

Competition Themes:

1. External Capital Flows and Financing for Development

2. Domestic Resource Mobilization and Financial Sector Development: Another Angle to look at the

MDGs in a Post-crisis World?

3. Innovative Sources of Development Finance

 

 Submissions are being accepted under the following three categories:

 a.    Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development: This award is for applicants submitting research

proposals to explore any of the three competition themes in an original and innovative way.

 

Prizes: First Prize: US$ 30,000; Second Prize: US$ 5,000

 

b.     Medals for Research on Development: These medals are completed research papers of outstanding nature

on any of the three competition themes.

 

Prizes: First Prize: US$ 10,000; Second prize: US$ 5,000

 

c.     Japanese Award for Most Innovative Development Project: Each year, we also select an on-going

development project that may or may not be connected to that year’s theme, but has contributed

to creating a sustainable impact in the community it has worked in, and requires further assistance

for scaling up.

 

Prizes: First Prize: US$ 30,000; Second Prize: US$ 5,000

Proposals on development projects: September 9, 2010

Research proposals/completed research papers: October 18, 2010
